amazing havent had the car a year yet and already it needs a service :lol: ,

as i know a man who can(for free :lol: :16:) ,i need to know what i actually need to get for him to carry out service(approaching 65k),

and would you recommend obtaining these items from the steelers or a factors?

i already have the oil(halfords BOGOF deal)

Just recently serviced my 2.3 petrol - items you will need are :

 

Oil, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Glow Plugs - not sure if diesels have pollen filters, but I changed this on mine at service. Plus, have you had the timing belt/chain checked? Always best to check this, as I know from experience it is a lot more problematic once it goes lol

60,000 mile service as per the book is a major service which may from time to time require additional scheduled maintenance such as cambelt, brake fluid change, antifreeze change. These should be done in line with ford recommendations. 70,000 mile service is an annual standard one to include standard service checks, oil, oil filter, odour filter.

what is needed:

 

The ability to swear proficiently when knuckles/hands/fingers get grazed/cut/caught up.

 

copious amounts of tea whilst you stand back and survey what needs doing next and wonder how the hell you get to the pollen filter.

 

A wide berth around you for when you throw spanners/pliers and whatever else you have hold of when you cant reach/undo/snap off various nuts/bolts/washers/screws etc..

 

But.seeing as you aint doing it.....be glad and happy that sum other poor begger is :lol:

With servicing nowadays everything bar the filters and oil is pretty much check and replace only if required. Strictly speaking you should be also changing the brake fluid and perhaps the coolant depending on the type it has been filled with. The glow plugs do not need changed unless they have failed but at

hi peeps thanx for the replys so far,

previous owner had it serviced(major 1)cam belt etc changed at 54500 miles,had the paper work sent to me from the ford dealer who done it,

when i purchased the car at 57 k it apparently had another service done by the dealer who i bought it from,now the indicator has been counting down and now showing 100 miles to next service which will put it on 66k so would you go by the ford service or the numptys at the dealer i bought the car from they have obviously reset the indicator when they done the last service but im pretty dam sure they havnt used ford parts(but i could be wrong(it has happened once b4 :D )

does it matter whether ford parts are used?if not any one recomend the best place to obtain the parts from?

 

MAZ,i remember when my m8 serviced my old 2ltr gal,the first thing he said to me was YOUR BLOODY CHANGING THAT,pointing to the pollen filter,mmmmm well thought out aint it :rolleyes: :lol:

I use gsf alot. Not to expensive, friendly, and have good quality parts. Most of them are same as dealer without the price. Also have website to buy from.
